About
This is a blog on IPSL which will be useful for users, scholars and activists interested in issues related to the Indo-Pakistani Sign Language and Deaf Studies in India in particular. The emphasis is on the linguistic issues that arise out of SL in general and IPSL in particular. This apart, the blog contains posts news reports, event notification, use of technology for the Deaf, research on Deaf Studies, etc., as well. One of the aims of this blog is to act as a repository of information related to Deaf issues that are particularly relevant to India. It is hoped that in the future, the blog archive will add to the valuable material for research on disability issues in general and Deaf Studies in particular.
Hi Tanmoy, could you direct me to some links where I can understand the basic alphabets of IPSL? I couldn’t find any proper images.
Thanks!
Hi,
Greetings!
I recently started following this blog, while doing some research on Sign Languages.
The purpose was to make an ipad based app or something similar for digital platform, which helps in learning ASL, both the hearing impaired and with normal hearing
I was thinking about American Sign Language and was surprised to find the wealth of material available for training on web and elsewhere.
In stark and a very unpleasant contrast, there was very less and far flung material back home, for IPSL.
We can have instructional videos on youtube, animated versions for smart devices and likewise for IPSL. Being a software person, I can help making such applications.
I want to discuss with you how can we proceed on it. I am very keen on learning IPSL myself but don’t know where to turn to and cannot go through formal instruction.
I am sure there would be huge no of people like me and I believe that if we aggressively take it up, it is going to be beneficial for a huge number of people, whose lives and whose near-ones’ lives are at stake.
Really hoping for a reply. Please let me know at adityagupta1@gmail.com
Regards,
Aditya
